Tonification

Rasayana is a special form of Ayurvedic tonification therapyThe main method of tonification is dietary; rich, nutritive food, supplemented with herbs, massage, rest and relaxation. It includes significant use of oils, both external and internal.

Work, both physical and mental, should be reduced as much as possible. One should go to bed early and sleep as much as desired. Sexual activity should be reduced.  Breathing exercises such as Pranayama also help build energy.

Rejuvenation (Rasayana) is a special form of tonification therapy. It follows deep cleansing like Panchakarma (purification therapy), and the elimination of excess doshas from the body, because real renewal is only possible once the factors of decay have been taken away.

A rejuvenation diet is essentially the same as a tonification diet. The herbal treatment is similar as well. The emphasis for rejuvenation is on substances to increase ojas (primary vitality) and improve sattva (mental clarity).
