During the early hours of Saturday morning we sadly lost our beloved Charaka treatment room to an electrical fire stemming from a neighbouring building. Luckily, the internal door was closed and so the fire didn’t spread any further, but the damage caused to Charaka was extensive enough to make it now unrecognisable. Named after one of the principal founders of Ayurveda, Charaka was our flagship treatment room at the rear of the spa. Favoured by clients and staff alike, Charaka had been with us since we first opened our door in 2006, offering all who set foot in it the pleasure of an authentic Ayurvedic experience. As you can imagine,.

Valentine’s Day… a celebration of love. Or that’s what its historical intention was, at least. Indeed for some this will still be the case, whereas for others it will be more a case of ‘should do’ rather than ‘want to’. There is one theme that appears to dominate far and wide, though, and that is the fact that Valentine’s Day ultimately seems to be all about the female. So long as the fairer half is presented with flowers, chocolates or some other stereotypically romantic gift, Valentine’s Day can be ticked off a guy’s to-do list for another year. Fancy Breaking The Mould This Year? So what about the man in.
As you may have noticed, our beloved website has been a tad temperamental over the last few weeks, so we would like to take this opportunity to apologise on its behalf. The issues experienced have now been resolved but we will be moving the site to a new home in the not too distant future. This may, unfortunately, cause some further low-level, short-term disruption, but once completed we will be able to offer you a faster, better-behaved browsing experience. Apologies once again and thank you for bearing with us during this turbulent time. The Ayurveda Retreat Team
Ok, so we’re not talking here about the cold weather; we’re talking about food and drink (although thick curtains are admittedly a simple, frequently-overlooked solution to nuisance cold draughts!). As you may already know, one of the core principles of Ayurveda states that what we ingest on a daily basis greatly affects our health. Sounds obvious enough, we realise, but there are three main differences between what Ayurveda states as ‘bad for our health’ and what other, more generalised thinking dictates: Emotional and mental ingestion can be just as detrimental to our health as the food and drink we put into our bodies. What is ‘bad’ for one person’s health.
